Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Student Summer 2025 placement with a start date of May 2025 and end-date of August 2025.

In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2025; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April/August 2025), but you require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?
In this role, you will be part of RBC Capital Partners, a team that provides junior capital and equity solutions to Canadian and U.S. based mid-market companies across most bank-supported industries, excluding real estate and natural resource exploration companies.

RBC Capital Partners plays a key role in enhancing RBC market competitiveness and client penetration by providing subordinated loan, equity co-investment, and structured cash flow term loan solutions for existing and potential clients within Corporate Client Group (CCG), Commercial Financial Services (CFS), Capital Markets (RBCCM), and City National Bank (CNB). The team is responsible for meeting annual and long term targets for loan derived revenues and returns and providing advice to our partners on the use of junior capital in connection with broader Bank relationship goals and RBC cross-sales.

What will you do?

  • Part of an Associate/Analyst team based in Toronto focused on financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management.
  • Assist with preparation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients and to internal partner teams for junior capital solutions.
  • Support deal teams with internal investment committee deliverables, including research and analysis.
  • Support deal teams with monthly analysis on portfolio companies and quarterly investment committee reporting.
  • Assist with quarterly monitoring of LP investments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional RBC teams on existing and potential transactions.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, economics, accounting, or finance.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an ability to analyze company financial statements and working knowledge of building financial models.
  • Strong skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and the ability to source data/research.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research a particular business or industry.
  • Well organized and ability to set priorities and devote appropriate attention to each assignment resulting in performing well under pressure, meeting time sensitive deadlines, communicating effectively, and being able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and a sense of urgency in a transactional environment.

Nice-to-have

  • Work experience in corporate lending, corporate finance, private equity, private credit or at an accounting firm in audit or advisory function
  • Experience/interest in preparing marketing materials
