Title: Co-Op/ Intern, Information Security - Summer 2025

Location: Remote - Canada (BC, Alberta, & Ontario)

Term: 4 months

Start Date: April 28, 2025

We're looking for an Information Security Co-op/ Intern to assist the team in securing our product, services and IT infrastructure. You'll work to implement processes and technologies that will help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our product.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Support the team in the day-to-day security operations monitoring and response for corporate and customer facing systems
  • Support the vulnerability management, by understanding the application security program at Hootsuite, and identifying the processes improvements
  • Assist in analyzing, escalating, and responding to alerts that originate from our MSSP and other security tools such as SIEM, IDS, Anti-Virus, EDR, WAF, and DLP
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Working towards a degree in a related field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.) or some proven related work experience
  • Knowledge of the cloud technology (AWS knowledge preferred), Agile and development/operation practices (e.g., DevOps)
  • Knowledge of common critical network protocols and layer 7 technologies such as SMTP, HTTP, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS, DNS, FTP, SSH, and others
  • Knowledge on web and mobile application security vulnerabilities, such as OWASP Top 10 list of vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge on performing application security scans and penetration testing both manually and using automated tools
  • Knowledge of the information security compliance certifications, such as FedRAMP, ISO27001 and SOC2
  • Fundamental understanding of Mac OS, Windows, and Linux operating systems
