Job Summary

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to gain hands-on experience in the financial sector? This is an exciting opportunity to work with the ESG Reporting team at RBC, helping support the preparation of RBC's Sustainability Report and implementation of sustainability reporting standards and regulations across the organization. This internship will provide valuable exposure to sustainability reporting frameworks, regulatory requirements, and the role of ESG in the financial sector.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Research and monitor developments in sustainability reporting standards and regulations (e.g., ISSB, CSSB, CSRD) to support compliance with evolving guidelines
  • Perform gap analysis of compliance with ESG disclosure requirements
  • Conduct peer analysis and research to assess RBC's disclosure strategy against best practices and follow through with recommendations and support implementation of improvements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to contribute to initiatives and reports across the organization
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining documentation of reporting processes and controls

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Working towards a Bachelor or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field
  • Strong personal skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, OSFI B-15, CSRD, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Previous experience working with a Financial Institution

Please note:

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
