JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Corporate Finance is to support the delivery of City services by: providing excellent service to the public and City departments; partnering with our clients to develop innovative solutions to business needs; and ensuring compliance with all legislation, by-laws and other governance requirements for financial reporting, planning, budgeting, accounting, treasury, and financial systems.

Under the direction of a manager or other supervisor in the assigned unit in Corporate Finance, you assist in the review and analysis of designated accounts and the preparation of various financial reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary Student - completion of first year college or university in Business Administration/Accounting/Finance

Minimum of 4 months but less than 8 months of related experience in a business and/or customer service environment

Accounting and/or Finance related experience is desirable

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance concepts and principles

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, SAP
  • Tact, patience, initiative, reliability, thoroughness, perform work accurately in an organized manner, ability to meet deadlines, willingness to learn.
  • Access to reliable, efficient transportation for use in the performance of job duties is required

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
