Job Description

Working with the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will:

1. Create a welcoming environment, greeting, informing, and directing visitors and employees in a warm, courteous, and professional manner.
2. Provide information and customer service to the public by answering incoming calls, emails, and in-person inquiries.
3. Maintain the online booking system and act as an information source on the service. Verify the courts are being utilized as per the booking schedule in the system, and all players are checked in and paid.
4. Communicate and document any concerns to the Recreation Programmer (health and safety, attendance, participants, equipment, inventory, facility spaces).
5. Respond to emergency situations including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.
6. Assist customers with day-to-day bookings, cancellations, enrollment in programs, and membership registration.

Job Requirements
  1. Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

  2. Energetic and enthusiastic personality dealing with members and guests.

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and demonstrated comfort level with the internet. Proven aptitude for the learning & use of various software applications, including recreation registration software.

  4. Work experience as a receptionist, front office representative or similar role is an asset.

  5. Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification required.

  6. Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

  7. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
