Job Description

Working with the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being apart of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events and services. The Successful Candidate Will:

1. Plans, organizes, and delivers high quality and safe leadership courses for all candidates.

2. Communicates with candidates and/or Instructors in regard to feedback on evaluated items, progression through the content, development opportunities and accident prevention.

3. Communicate with participants to troubleshoot and discuss any issues or concerns with the program.

4. Liaise with the programmer to discuss any concerns, issues or developments with the program, facility or participants.

5. Manage their class time and preparation time, as well as arriving on time for their program.

6. Maintains a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately.

7. Fill out the required paperwork that deals with Health and Safety issues, accidents, incidents or facility issues.

Job Requirements

All
1. Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
2. Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
3. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise sound judgement.
4. Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
5. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Specialized 1 - Starting $25
1. Current qualifications for any of the following: Standard First Aid and CPR-C Instructor, Bronze Examiner, Standard First Aid and CPR-C Examiner

Specialized 2 - Starting $30
1. Current qualifications for any of the following: Lifesaving Society Instructor, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, Assistant Instructor, Aquatic Supervisor Instructor, Airway Management Instructor and National Lifeguard Examiner.

Specialized 3- Starting $35
1. Current qualifications for any of the following: Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer, National Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Aquatic Safety Management, Stand First Aid Instructor Trainer, or other comparable certification.

Please Note:
1. Rate of pay will be determined by Town of Newmarket staff based on applicant experience and/or program requirements.
2. Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
