West Fraser Accounting Department in Vancouver is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Accounting student to join our team starting in May 2025.
Accounting Summer Student
You'll Do:
• Support the team in their daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and filings.
• Prepare, update, and maintain periodic financial reports within Excel.
• Assist with preparing bank transactions, bank reconciliations and deposit registers.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly or consolidation journal entries.
• Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis projects, including requests from other departments.
• Document financial tasks and processes.
• Assist with improving system implementations (for example, EPM).
• Contribute to developing new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using existing West Fraser processes.
• Perform other duties as required.
You have:
• To be an undergraduate student pursuing a university degree. Preference will be given to students obtaining a bachelor's in business administration with an accounting specialty.
• Preference is given to individuals who have completed the Introductory Financial Accounting courses and are working toward the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• General understanding of accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Proficient in MS Office suite, specifically Microsoft Excel.
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in teams.
• Previous accounting-related office experience is considered an asset.
