Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Technical Evaluation Work:
Specific focus areas include:
Upstream Oil & Gas Assets, Midstream Infrastructure, and Energy Transition
Detailed evaluation of assets that could include analysis of production, land, geology, reserves booking, reserve evaluations, operating expenses, economics, capital, inventory, transportation, processing, marketing, type curves, development plans, risks, and supplying inputs for economic models
Identifying value additive opportunities based on evaluation of assets including undeveloped lands, new plays, and incremental drilling inventory on existing plays
Evaluating and summarizing large datasets of technical and financial information including well performance, operations execution practices for drilling and completions
Investigating, sourcing, and analyzing key play and corporate information from public data sources
Researching regulatory matters related to the energy industry, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors, and Abandonment and Reclamation Obligations (ARO)
Assisting with miscellaneous project related duties as required
Execution duties (Mandates):
Assist in technical evaluation of energy clients
Preparing presentations and writing of technical portion of marketing documents such as teasers, information letters, information memorandums, or management presentations
Attending internal and external project kick-off meetings as required
Preparation and maintenance of data rooms based on data supplied by client
Marketing of oil and gas assets to potential buyers as required including:
Contribution to presentations to buyers
Following up on Q&A from buyers
3. Business Development duties:
Assist in preparation and execution of pitch book materials
Attend and present technical information in pitch meetings as required
Contribute to generation of business development ideas
Contribute to portfolio analysis and company updates
Contribute to play analysis and updates
Keep up to date on play developments, industry trends and company specific advances
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:
University student entering their final year of engineering studies; exposure to or interest in petroleum engineering is considered an asset
No prior experience working in engineering within the energy industry is necessary, however would be considered an asset
Ability to use technical tools to gather data, analyze and articulate findings
Ability to adapt and pick up oil and gas evaluation software including:
Primary software - Val Nav, GeoScout, XI Technologies, Enverus
Secondary software - Mosaic, Accumap, Aries, Spotfire, Power BI and other analytics tools
Other computer skills: Microsoft Office
High level of discretion dealing with confidential matters with internal and external clients
Strong organizational skills, time management skills and an ability to set priorities and meet demanding deadlines
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required
Nice to have:
Exposure to oil and gas reservoir engineering (reservoir types, recovery techniques and technological advances)
Experience or exposure to unconventional reservoirs, horizontal drilling, multistage fracking completions, reserve booking practices, waterflood and/or enhanced oil recovery
Experience in or exposure to economic evaluation and knowledge of key value drivers (net present value, cash flow, rate of return and other economic indicators) and fiscal regimes
Beneficial to have exposure to oil and gas acquisitions & divestitures activity, agreements, and commercial aspects of the energy industry
Experience, exposure or passion for alternative energy, energy transition or the 'carbon economy' considered an asset
Experience or interest in large scale data management and analysis considered an asset, including familiarity with databases such as Access and Oracle
